Giving Up Facebook For (most of) April: Day Nine and Ten: APP

Day Nine:

Rumble

Day Ten:

One of my roommates suggested taking the Facebook app off of my phone. I did. It needed to happen if I wanted to try to think of something relevant to write. Right?

Here I am now writing about how I do not have my FB app anymore. I am strictly using only instagram on my phone. I only run through FB at home in the morning and end of the night mostly for just MassBytes.

Do you want to understand how fucking hard this is for me?

Normally I have my face in facebook all of the time. On the bus or train. Waiting for the bus or train. Walking to the bus or train. Waiting for my shift to start. Waiting for my shift to end. Sitting on my porch.

The stupid app had me controlled in every fucking scenario I was in.

I was hanging out with a friend today after a set, and I counted how many times I wanted to look at my phone to see what was going on around town. I felt like I was missing something. Ok, I didn't really count, but it was at least ten times I went for my phone, looked at the clock, and realized I don't have anything to look at.

I am just living in that moment. Yup.

Nope. Then I had a freaking panic attack and ran somewhere else. This real world stuff freaks me out.

After, I ran to about four different areas shooting pictures. I burnt myself out. I caught my bus. And I recapped the day in my head.

I woke up at 1pm. Went to Dorchester to see DOT RATS. Went to Central Square. Had a burger, and a red bull at MidEast. Flew in and out of MidEast up, down, corner. Caught a bus. Walked home. Said hello to my roommate. Turned my computer on, rushed to facebook after midnight.

Grr.

Giving Up Facebook For (most of) April: Day Eight: Cigarettes.

It's official. I have lost my mind. I parted ways with some of the projects I was so invested in. It was the world I knew. I know there are new projects waiting for me, but I can't help but feel I lost everything. AND I am doing this all while trying to quit cigarettes. So fuck the world. I hate you right now.

I am the worst person to be around right now. This week I have managed to be a dick to a close friend, my mom, and a few people around me.

Mind over matter. Mind over matter. I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.

I have become quite a napper. I have slept more this week than I have in all of 2013. I am guessing my body is a dick this week, too.

My friend posted this meme...

At first I wanted to hang out but then I thought about having to be around people and I was like nah I dont wanna do that

I went out a few times, and quickly wished I was home in my room with my pants off, listening to music. Right now, I am not in the mood to listen to anyone's nonsense.

2013, I quit drinking and sex. When I tell people this, they groan and ask why? Because it was getting me nowhere.  I needed a break to figure shit out.

When the New Year arrived, my resolution was HEALTH AND WEALTH.

Next I am quitting cigarettes. They suck. They are expensive. They make me feel like shit. It makes my clothes smell awful, and I don't even want to kiss anyone, because ew.

In 2013 when I was drinking, it was easier to not focus on the smell or taste. But now that I am not drinking, I realized I don't want to touch anyone til I quit. I am tired of smelling like an ashtray.

And the fucking coughing is disgusting. It could happen at anytime, and sometimes it won't stop until my lung projectiles out of my body and smashes against the wall.

So fuck you cigarettes. I am breaking up with you for good. FUCK. YOU.

I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I am not a smoker.

Giving Up Facebook For (most of) April: Day Seven: Comics

This is my poor attempt at comics today because I had no inspiration to write due to all the napping I did. So here you are...

I am going to be famous. I know. No autographs.

Giving Up Facebook For (most of) April: Day Six: Squirrels Scare the Shit Out of Me

Squirrels Scare the Shit Out of Me

I came to the conclusion that squirrels scare the shit out of me. Whenever I am walking down the street and spy one in front of me, hanging out on a fence or on a tree or whatever. I pray in my head for the squirrel to run away. Silently chanting, "run, run, run, run." Then the squirrel does run...runs out of fucking sight! Where did that little bugger go? Then I am paralyzed with the thought of him waiting for me, to jump out and attach himself to my face. I then vision these tiny little claw-hands digging into my cheeks. FOR THE HEAVENS ALMIGHTY, please let me see the squirrel in my sight before I reach the spot he disappeared.

Boom.

I see the squirrel. I see he has moved further away from my walking line. Then I start repeating, "please stay there, please stay there, please, oh, please." I close my eyes; I pass him. My pace turns into a sprint. My mind is screaming. And I finally get away.

Fucking squirrels.

Giving Up Facebook For (most of) April: Day Four: Naps

YESTERDAY:

It was a beautiful Sunday. The weather was warm, and the sun was shining. While everyone was seizing the day, I slept. My body needed the rest.

I started a new day job. The transition from being a nocturnal person to a morning person was a struggle. Still is...I hardly want to leave my room. I have been in my room since Friday. Now to get my ass out of the house.

Giving Up Facebook For (most of) April: Day Three: The Sun

Finally the Sun has arrived.

A reward...
                rest for your thoughts.

Lazily bask in the glow while you rest your head on the pillow.

Your loss.

Giving Up Facebook For (most of) April: Day One

The silence
      Slowly kills me
      Trapped in my head
                Again tonight
There is nothing I can do
         But put a record on

Facebook Food Quote: Burritos by Joe Ferrara

"There's something about a guy ordering 5 burritos at once, fucking up the whole line and continuously using the word "guacamoLA" that's makes me want to disembowel you"

Making Late Night Snacks: Frozen Waffle Breakfast Dessert

As I had my face buried in my laptop, my eyes stopped at Bay State Rock Carmelita's post on the Facebook newsfeed. Her mention of blueberry pancakes made me fantasize myself in a diner. At one point, this thought went to IHOP.

Oh, IHOP, how I cannot drink coffee anymore because of you and your bottomless pots for $2. No teenager should consume that amount of coffee.

Anyways, I needed to satisfy my increasing desire for this breakfast plate. What was a girl to do? Then the light bulb clicked on. Although I couldn't have blueberry pancakes at the moment, I did have the ingredients to replicate IHOP's Belgium Waffle - Frozen Waffles, Banana Slices, Strawberry Sauce, Maple Syrup, and Whipped Cream. Not the best in the world, but definitely satisfying for the middle of the night snack.

Ingredients
  • Frozen Waffles (cook according to directions)
  • Banana - sliced
  • Strawberry Sauce
  • Maple Syrup
  • Whipped Cream
Layer all ingredients in the order they appear. Substitute or delete any ingredients as you feel fit. Boom.

End Note:
IHOP, you hop, we all hop for IHOP is a line that will forever be in my head from my glory days of binge coffee drinking. Breakfast, anyone?
