Jameson, Where Did You Come From?

At the ripe age of 21, I would close down my cocktail lounge and catch last call at the neighborhood TGIF's (yes.). After watching people sip perfect Martinis or Manhattans all night, I craved to be in their seat.

I ran to the bar, hopped on a stool, ordered a Dewars on the rocks and immediately got the did-you-just-order-that face. Once in awhile, I would get a "what is a young girl like you drinking scotch?" I just smiled and shrugged. I didn't know how to answer their stereotypical questions about my scotch drinking. I guess I should of been ordering a Bud Light with a shitty Woo Woo shot. I just didn't get it. Although I am a sucker for Green Apple Martinis...flavored like a Jolly Rancher. Team Green. ;)

All of sudden, Jameson started to appear. Why have you shown up a lot lately, Mr. Jameson? What's your deal. There I am, having picklebacks at The Midway in Jamaica Plain, enjoying Jameson and gingers at Ralph's in Worcester, or sippin' some from a flask with the boys on a cold winter night (I might of made up the last one). I kind of like you, sir.

Jameson is Irish Whiskey, kids. Distilled three times, matured and bottled in Ireland, a tradition from 1780. 1780!! I guess if it is around this long, it has to be good, right?! Typical Jameson drinks here in this great state of Massachusetts:
  • Jameson, Neat
  • Jameson, Rocks (ice)
  • Jameson & Ginger Ale
  • Jameson & Cola/Diet Cola
  • Jameson & Soda, Lemon Slice (optional)
  • Jameson & Pickle Juice (known as the Pickleback)
  • Jameson & Coffee
I would drink them all; although I am not too keen on hot liquor. It only makes sense to chill the hot coffee, maybe add a splash of Irish Cream along with the almighty Jameson. This will be my next adventure. Stay tuned.

How do you drink your Jameson? Leave a comment below.
