MIXX: premium quality frozen yogurt bar

It was a friend's birthday, so I opted to take the birthday girl out for a birthday dessert. I asked her where she wanted to go, and she suggested MIXX.

MIXX, located at 66 Brighton Avenue, is a self-serve, house-made frozen yogurt bar with rotating flavors and a buffet of fifty or so toppings.

Directions.

The rules are simple:

1. Grab a cup.
2. Fill with frozen yogurt(s) of choice.
3. Add toppings.
4. Weigh & Pay.


My friend helped me pop my MIXX cherry by guiding me through the process. She grabbed a cup and started to read the plaques of available flavors, settling on the last one - THAI TEA. I thought this was a perfect choice, so I went with it as well.

Nexxt was the toppings. The variety was incredible, ranging from cereal to fresh fruit to exotic items like popping bobas and strawberry mochi. She went straight for her favorite toppings, and I went for fresh fruit - kiwi, strawberry, blackberry, and banana. I needed something somewhat healthy. Right? Once our masterpieces were complete, we weighed and paid, grabbed some napkins and spoons. You can even pick out the color of spoon you want. We both chose pink.

I love this place. No, I am in love with this place. It reminded me of when I was a kid and my mom would take me to Putnam Pantry - a candy shop with an ice cream buffet. It was such a treat to head up to Danvers, Massachusetts to go build our own sundaes.

Now, I can go to MIXX any time I want and the toppings are better. The ice cream is now frozen yogurt - non and low fat varieties with a list of health benefits like strengthening the immune system or fighting and lowering cholesterol. Score!
