Finally the day came.
I waited in line to enter the venue and parked a spot at the front of the stage. Toby Goodshank started off the festivities with his lovely voice. Then, The Pizza Underground was up. The team performed deliciously amusing songs with some witty and crass humor. I loved it. You could see they were really close and respected each other. It made me long to go home and hang out with my creative friends.
The band invited everyone to a private VIP party. I decided to go to see what it was like. The party was at an upscale night club with incredibly good looking people. I don't drink or care for bad club music, so I soaked in the scene and tried to entertain myself by dancing. I just didn't fit in. I kept thinking about my friends, my local music loves, and what was happening over the next few days.
I stayed close to the only two people I met at the show, but the more one of the guys drank, the more he started grinding on me. I kept making excuses to go to the bathroom, which was the coolest part about the after party.
I guess what I realized is no matter how famous you are...you need your social circle, your community. And I was definitely in the wrong place. I would of much rather sat down with the band and wrote a pizza song.
Thank you to Mr. Culkin for opening my eyes a little bit more to what is so special to me. Life is about doing what you love and with the people you love to do things with.
